2024 12th Sava Cup Poyang Lake International Cycling Race
On the evening of September 1, 2024, the opening ceremony of the 12th "China Sports Lottery SAVA Cup" Poyang Lake International Cycling Race was held in Yongxiu County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. The event is authorized by the International Cycling Union (UCI) and exclusively sponsored by Sava Bicycle Co., Ltd.
This event continues the theme of "Cycling in China, Jiangxi has unique scenery", aiming to promote cycling through high-level events, showcase Jiangxi's unique natural landscape and profound cultural heritage, stimulate sports consumption, and promote social and economic development.
Jiujiang Yongxiu will be the starting point for this year's race, which will officially begin on the morning of September 2. The race will start at Paigong Alley in Wucheng, Yongxiu, and finish at the People's Square in Yongxiu County. The route offers picturesque scenery, allowing participants to enjoy the unique natural beauty of the area while competing.
The race will span 11 days, passing through 11 host locations: Jiujiang Yongxiu, Jingdezhen Leping, Shangrao Sanqingshan, Yingtan Longhushan, Fuzhou Zixi, Nanchang Wanli, Yichun Tonggu, Pingxiang Wugongshan, Xinyu Xiannv Lake, Ji'an Taihe, and Ganzhou Anyuan. The total distance covered will be 2,825 kilometers, with 1,002 kilometers of racing and 1,823 kilometers of transfer stages, making it the longest and most extensive professional road cycling race in Asia this year in terms of both the number of stages and total distance.
This year's race will feature 25 top teams from 33 countries and regions, including Hong Kong and Taiwan, French Defense Club Team ,Mongolian Flying Express Continental Team with approximately 230 participants, including riders, team leaders, and coaches. These participants are among the best from professional teams, continental teams, and national teams, adding more excitement and competitiveness to the event.
Additionally, this year's race innovatively includes four types of competitions: road races, criteriums, team time trials, and individual time trials, making it the most comprehensive stage race in Asia this year.
The top three individual total scores in this station were Zorzakis from Thailand's Luke's Insurance Team, Bereznyak from Chengdu Continental Team, and Ivanov from Hengxiang Continental Team. The best in Greater China was won by Miao Zhengxian from Hong Kong Team, the sprint king was Bereznyak from Chengdu Continental Team, and the best young athlete was Hane from Britain's St. Pierre Team.
